Vocal and rap recording
At our booth on Overtoom 551 you track leads, stacks and ad-libs with an engineer on every take — unhurried, but with a clear workflow.

Listeners notice the voice first and forgive it least. At Nitentxara, Vocal and rap recording starts with setup and listening before take one. The booth is 7 m²: dry enough for control, open enough to avoid a boxed-in sound.
We work with singers, rappers, topliners and spoken-word artists from Amsterdam and beyond. Bring a beat, a full session export or lyrics only — we align tempo, key and routing to your material. Planning mixing or mastering later? Book those separately; recording day is about a clean vocal capture.
Process
- 01
Intake
Send your beat or session, lyrics and references via contact. We reply within 1 business day with slots and a quote under our terms and conditions.
- 02
Setup
In the booth we compare mics, build your headphone mix and check level and distance. Allow fifteen to twenty minutes before tracking starts.
- 03
Tracking
Full passes first, then targeted sections. The engineer flags favourites during the session so you do not replay everything at the end.
- 04
Wrap-up
Comping agreed sections, consistent naming and WAV export aligned to your beat. Files via download link; we keep the session 12 months on our systems.
Booth and control room
The studio has 3 spaces: live room, vocal booth and a 21 m² control room. The booth looks into control, so you keep eye contact for cues and ad-libs without shouting between takes.
The booth is treated for a dry signal with little room tone — easier comping and later mixing. In control you hear nearfields; your cue mix can add more beat, less bass or a touch of reverb for pitch reference.
Microphone choice
No single mic suits every voice. With 16 inputs available we A/B two or three capsules on the same verse. Condensers for detail, dynamics for loud rap or close-filter work, sometimes a ribbon if the top end feels harsh.
Distance, height and pop-filter angle shape consonants and sibilance. We tune together while you listen in cans. The aim is a take that needs minimal destructive fixing, not a “fix it in the mix” capture.
Who books this
Solo artists finishing a single, rappers on a mixtape, bands adding toplines after a band session, songwriters with a publisher demo — the booth is small but flexible. Feature vocalists on someone else’s project get a neutral room without an audience.
Minimum age for independent bookings is 16. Younger artists may attend with a parent or guardian — mention it in your contact message.
What to bring
Instrumental as WAV (ideally without guide vocal), or stem exports with clear names. Printed lyrics or a charged phone. BPM and key if known. Two reference tracks with vocal tones you like speed up decisions.
Read our vocal prep guide for sleep, hydration and warm-ups. Skip heavy dairy before the session if it thickens your voice. Your own headphones are welcome if you rely on them.
During the session
You set the break rhythm. A tired voice rarely yields usable takes; a shorter block with focus beats four hours of grinding. Want feedback on pitch, timing or diction? Say so upfront — some artists want technical support only, others a musical second opinion.
For stacks and ad-libs we use a fixed track layout: lead, dub, harmonies, ad-lib bus. Names stay consistent so an outside mixer or our mix engineer can import quickly. Heavy ad-lib rap or big harmony arrangements need extra time in the schedule.
Delivery and formats
Default is 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV from bar one aligned to your beat. We match your project sample rate on request. You receive consolidated vocal files and, if agreed, the full Pro Tools or Reaper session.
Files go via secure download. We keep a backup 12 months, then delete project data per privacy policy. Copy to your own drive as well.
Rates and booking
Listed prices include 21% VAT. Business invoicing is available with 30-day payment terms. Confirmation requires a 30% deposit; free cancellation up to 7 days before the session — see terms and conditions.

Not included
Mixing, mastering, heavy tuning as an effect, producing the beat, video shoots and extra revision rounds outside a separate mix booking are not part of Vocal and rap recording. You arrange and pay guest musicians unless booked otherwise.
If your voice is unwell on the day we reschedule in good faith. We do not push takes; a new date beats a vocal full of strain and artefacts.
Included
- Studio engineer for booked time
- Mic comparison and selection
- Personal headphone mix in booth
- Comping of agreed sections
- WAV export aligned to your beat
- Session backup for 12 months

FAQ
How long for one song?
For a three- to four-minute track with lead, dubs and a few ad-libs, most artists need two to four hours including setup. Bigger stacks fit better in a half day.
Can someone sit in with me?
One or two guests in control is fine. Larger groups distract quickly — tell us via contact if you expect more people.
Do you mix as well?
Yes, as a separate service at mixing rates. You can mix elsewhere: we deliver clearly named WAV files.
What if I am ill on session day?
Contact us early via 020 244 8916 or [email protected]. Within 7 days we move the date at no charge; after that, cancellation rules in terms and conditions apply.
